Tony Parker Sleeper Candidate for MVP | NBA.com
A friend and I were just talking the other night about how Tony Parker was a complete sleeper candidate for MVP. I admit when I think of this year's power teams OKC, Miami, Chicago ... possibly my beloved Lakers, the Spurs don't even enter my mind. But even with a aging Tim Duncan and a banged up Ginobili, the Spurs are sitting atop the Western conference, and it's Parker that running the show.
"When he scores, I tell him he needs to pass. And when he assists, I tell him he needs to score."
-- Spurs' head coach Gregg Popovich on Tony Parker
We know the NBA likes giving the award to point guards (see Steve Nash in 2005 and 2006). Ironically in 2005, it was Tony Parker and the Spurs that would knock Nash's Suns out of the playoffs and go on to win the title. So what do you think? Tony Parker for MVP?
